First and foremost I would like to briefly alight on the plight of the British Bee. In short Europe will see a ban on neonicotinoid pesticides commencing in July this year. Britain however remains reluctant to join in due to the fact that research is inconclusive. Surely if there is any doubt at all as to whether these pesticides harm bees, in consideration of the extremely important and unarguably essential job they do, then we should sign up too. Bees are having a hard time in the UK and considering they are responsible for a third of the crops we enjoy on our table it’s about time they were not relegated by those who must obviously believe troubled bees are inconsequential in comparison with the vast importance of these pesticides. Please help bees stay busy as I am in no hurry to be sitting on a bald rock gnawing fashion!
There is a big march in London this Friday made up of beekeepers, grocers and anyone else concerned about the neonicotinoid issue. Here's a link to the event - http://www.ejfoundation.org/bees/march_of_the_beekeepers
